As soon as the first cool breeze blows in, I’m ready for a nice cup of hot tea or hot cocoa. I like to set up a display area for them for autumn and winter. I’ll change things out seasonally. For autumn, I use lots of warm colors and fall themed items. I set it all out on top of my wine rack which is in the eat-in nook area It’s easy to access and adds a nice touch of decor for the area.
I wrapped a strip of burlap ribbon around an apothecary jar and tied a simple bow. I added a burlap rolled rosette to the center of the bow and then cocoa mix to the jar.
Cinnamon spiced tea bags fill this jar. I wrapped a piece of twine around the lid. The little leaf is a piece of embellishment that came on the packaging of napkins I bought a while ago.
I like to use clear glass mugs for fall, adding a gold spoon to each one.
I used the candles sitting on top of fall sprinkles that I first used for Gloria’s fall birthday party .
I sorted through some old decor and found this grapevine wreath. I made a few felt rosettes to add some color.
I found this cute sign at JoAnns, on sale for three dollars. The plant is a miniature rose plant that one of my sons sent to me for Mother’s Day this year. Everyone who knows me is aware that I have whatever the opposite of a green thumb is. I can’t tell you how excited I am that it’s still alive five months later! It even had new blooms on it in September. It adds a nice contrasting color to the set up.
A serving jar full of candy corn, chex mix and mixed nuts makes a colorful snack to have out. It’s hard to pass by and not reach in for a handful. This is a great sweet/salty treat.
I mentioned that all of this sits on top of my wine rack, so if hot cocoa or tea aren’t exactly what you have in mind, there’s always wine! It’s looking a little empty at the moment. I’ll have to stock up for the holidays.
I added the brown tray to give the display more depth. I’m still waiting on fall weather to really arrive here in Charleston, but it is getting cool enough in the evenings to enjoy a nice cup of tea or cocoa.
The casual look works well for this spot in my house. I’d love to hear or see your ideas for your hot cocoa/tea bar.
