Creating a Coastal Autumn Tablescape for my breakfast nook was such a fun look to put together. Other than loving how it looks, one of the best things about it was how inexpensive this was to style. I used items on hand, thrift store items, dollar store decor and a few pieces from Marshall’s.
They key to combining coastal decor with autumn pieces was layering. I started with a table runner and layered a large coral napkin with fall cutouts around the edges on top of the runner.
For each place setting, I layered a round green placemat, a fall charger and white dishes. I topped each one with a neutral napkin and my coastal napkin rings.
I bought the coral napkins from Anna’s Linens and chargers from Walmart last year.
The white dishes? The Dollar Tree! I bought these over the summer to use for a dinner party. I bought enough place settings to serve eight. The total cost for eight dinner plates, eight small plates and eight bowls was $24.00. I have numerous sets of dishes and china, but for every day use, these are great and they go with any season.
I love these glasses and the story behind them. A number of years ago, Gloria and Matthew were given the chance to save items from Matthew’s grandmother’s home to keep for their own home. As it turned out, they decided to use a very warm color palette for their home and these lovely glasses simply did not fit in with their decor. As they were moving into their new home over the summer and sorting through unused items, these glasses were there, just waiting to be used. They go perfectly with my coastal decor and I’m so happy that I can use them for this tablescape.
The centerpiece for my coastal autumn tablescape brings in the look of the coast as well as the fall. I used an oil rubbed bronze rectangular tray for the base. A center candle, anchored by soft green pumpkins and sprinkled with shells, nuts, sea glass and vase fillers blends the two decor schemes.
The combination of neutrals, greens, blues, coral and browns blends together for the look I wanted.
Other areas in my breakfast room also have the coastal autumn look. My Coastal Cornucopia with chalk painted pumpkins sits atop the wine rack next to the table.
A few years ago I bought this glass pumpkin cookie jar. I filled it with the same items I used for the centerpiece.
On either side of the pumpkin, I have two glass leaf dishes that I found at Goodwill for $1.50.
To finish off the decor for the breakfast nook, I used a vase from Walmart that has seahorses painted on it and filled it with sprigs that I bought with a 50% off coupon at JoAnns Fabric and Crafts.
When I set out to create a coastal autumn decor, I wasn’t sure how it would look once it all came together. But, I couldn’t be happier with it and I think that since I live in a coastal city and in a place that stays warm until mid November, the coastal autumn look works.
Are you all set for autumn? I’ve still got a few more coastal autumn projects that I’m working on and will be sharing soon. I do wish the days would start to feel like fall.
We’ll be sharing at lots of these great parties!
