‘Tis the Season! I’m excited to be a part of a blogger Ornament Exchange Project. Erlene from My Pinterventures partnered 80 bloggers for the exchange. It kicked off on November 2 and will continue through November 13. You’re sure to be inspired by tons of ornament ideas.
Make sure you stop by Erlene’s 2015 Ornament Exchange Post to find links to the entire collection of ornaments.
I wanted my ornament to be something that anyone could make with only a few supplies. I was partnered with Dee from Cupcakes and Crowbars and we discovered that our Christmas tree decorating styles are a match. We both have a hodgepodge of ornaments that either hold special meaning or are ornaments that we simply love.
I love rustic, wood ornaments that have a splash of glam to them. I’m hopeful that Dee will enjoy this look, too.
I saw a set of wooden coasters at Marshall’s for $5.99 and I thought they would be perfect for this project. I liked the variations in the wood.
I began by tapping a tiny nail into the top of the coaster to make it easier to screw the hook into.
I had to use a pair of pliers to get the hook securely into the wood.
I added a metal snow flake charm around the hook and followed that with gold ribbon tied into a small bow. Using a gold paint pen, I added the year onto the back of the ornament. I already had the charms and the ribbon, so there was no added cost.
I purchased craft wood ornaments from Michaels and spray painted them gold. Once dry, I used hot glue to secure them to the coasters. I used tweezers to remove any visible strings of glue. The cost for three wooden ornaments with a coupon was about $3.00.
This truly was a simple project and I like how the ornaments turned out. They are a little rustic and a little glam.
