It’s time to begin thinking about Valentine’s Day! I’ve posted in previous years that my husband and I prefer to dine at home for Valentine’s Day. We enjoy the quiet, no crowds atmosphere that staying home on a traditionally crazy busy restaurant night gives us. Staying at home doesn’t mean we don’t make it a special occasion though. We dress for a special night, have a romantic dinner and enjoy the evening so much more than fighting crowds and dining in a noisy restaurant. This romantic table setting for two is from last year’s stay at home Valentine’s night.
Rather than setting up our large dining table for the two of us, I create a romantic setting in our Charleston room. I use a small folding table and add decor to the room. Each year, I choose a color scheme for the night. Last year, I used red, white and gold. I made a simple centerpiece by using a gold rimmed pedestal cake plate. Layering some glass table scatter hearts as well as glittery red hearts and silk rose petals to the plate gives it a full look. Two red candles on brass holders complete the centerpiece. How easy!
A few years ago I found these candle holders at the Dollar Tree. They were silver and I’ve used them that way before. But, for this table setting, I spray painted them gold and added LED pillar candles to them.
I love finding pretty napkin folds. This rose petal was perfect for the romantic table setting. For a quick tutorial on this fold, have a look at an Easter Tablescape from a couple of years ago.
I layered a white table cloth. a red lacy runner and a strip of gold ribbon to cover the folding table. Using a combination of white and red dishes gave the place settings a pop of color.
Using a few gold candle holders with glittery gold LED candles helped to complete the look. Gold rimmed wine glasses and gold flatware were the final touches.
