You know how plans sometimes don’t go the way you intended. That’s what happened to us yesterday. I’d been waiting for a clear day to take some outdoor photos for the blog hop. I was all set to get it done yesterday. Unfortunately, Gloria ended up at the ER and had to have an emergency appendectomy! The plans for the blog photos obviously fell by the wayside. The good news is that she is doing well and is resting at our house while she recovers. So, better late than never, I’m sharing our Outdoor Christmas Decor this evening.
Today’s 12 Days of Christmas Blog Hop is all about outdoor spaces. Lots of the very talented bloggers participating will be sharing their porch decor. We don’t have a porch, though I wish we did! I’m sharing our front lawn decor. I enjoy decorating outdoors and I love that this is the one spot of decorating that my husband helps with. He does a lot of the setting up of the pieces with lights and he’s the one who checks out the lights each year and replaces those that aren’t working. I come along after he’s done and add the final touches.

Outdoor Christmas Decor
We prefer to use all white lights for our lawn decor. I love the colorful, festive lights that many of our neighbors use, but I’ve always had a preference for white outdoor lights.
We’ve had the deer and sleigh for over ten years and they still look great. Each year, my husband does have to spend some time replacing bulbs, but it’s always worth it.
We added the tree about five years ago. I always love the look of our parlor tree showing through the window along with the lawn tree. We still need to add some net lights to the shrubbery, but that was on the list of things that we were going to do yesterday.
A few years ago, I wanted to add a pop of color without changing the lights. I use large nonbreakable ornaments that hang from the bare tree with ribbon.
Our front door wreath is a pre-lit green wreath. I added the red and white poinsettias and the jingle bells. Green garland and white lights are wrapped around the railings.
I use pre-lit garland to cover the lamp post. A plain green wreath with a red bow is added near the top of the post.
I used a combination of various stems and picks and red wired ribbon for our mailbox. The easiest way to attach them is by using pipe cleaners.
I love changing up my bird bath fairy garden for Christmas. This year, I lined it with white foam packing sheets to give it a snowy look.Christmas Decor for outdoor spaces ~ The 12 Days of Christmas has 30+ ideas for your porches, lawns, and other outdoor spaces. I love driving through our neighborhood to look at Christmas lights. There are lots of houses and lawns here that are covered from top to bottom with lights and decor pieces. While I love how festive it all is, I can’t imagine the time it takes to get all of that done!
