Valentine's Sign

After I got all my craft supplies organized, I found several items that I wanted to put to use.  I decided I’d get started making a few Valentine’s Day decorations. I thought it might be fun to add a few touches here and there around the house. This hanging sign is made with three small wood craft boards, some left over laminated burlap sheets, felt and twine. It was simple to put together.

I’m sharing this on the Spring Craft Blog Hop 2015, hosted by 18 blogs. I’d love for you to join in and add your Valentine’s Day Crafts. Click below to join in!

I started with three unfinished wooden boards and spray painted them red.

I used left over pieces of Creative Essentials Laminated Burlap Sheets. I love these sheets. I’ve used them for a number of printing projects and the results are always great. I had several half sheets left over, so I used three of them to print out the phrase I wanted.

I began this project thinking I was going to use the phrase, “Love Lives Here,” but  then an idea kind of came out of no where and I thought it would be fun to have three differently sized hearts and use the phrase, “Love Grows Here.”

I used the very simple method  (remember elementary school crafts) of folding a square in half and cutting a heart shape out of pieces of red felt. The larger the square, the larger the heart.

I trimmed the burlap and pulled each piece tightly over the ends of the board and hot glued it in place on the back. I hot glued each heart to the burlap.

To make this a hanging decoration, I used twine. I looped a piece onto the back of the top piece and hot glued it down, adding a strip of burlap to keep it secure. I measured  the space between each board and glued more twine down the back of each piece. Then trimmed off the excess twine.

When hanging it, I added another smaller felt heart to the point of the loop.

Valentine's Sign

I love easy projects that turn out the way I want them to! I also love when I have everything on hand to make the project and can use bits and pieces of left overs from other projects.
Are you busy making Valentine’s Day crafts?  Do you decorate your home for Valentine’s Day? I don’t do much, but a few pieces are always fun to have around.

    • Those burlap sheets are great. I first found them at Walmart for a package of three for $2.99. I tried to find them on line, but couldn’t match that price any place else. Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a note. I appreciate it!
